Beaumont, TX (January 20, 2026) – A destructive fire early Monday morning outside Beaumont’s western city limits left a home in ruins and injured one firefighter during an intense battle to contain the flames.
The incident occurred around 6:35 a.m. on January 19 in the 1800 block of Buena Vista Lane, just south of College St. According to Beaumont Fire Department District Chief Scott Wheat, the blaze initially began in a trailer before spreading to an adjacent house, quickly reaching the attic before crews arrived.
All three occupants of the house were able to escape without injury prior to firefighters arriving on the scene. Upon arrival, responders were met with heavy fire conditions and made the decision to begin with a defensive strategy due to structural concerns. The trailer’s roof ultimately collapsed during the effort. As the fire evolved, crews shifted to offensive operations in an attempt to gain control.
One firefighter suffered injuries while battling the flames and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Fire officials have not yet released a cause for the blaze. The home is believed to be a total loss, and further investigation is underway to determine the origin and contributing factors.
Our thoughts are with the injured firefighter as they recover, and with the residents who lost their homes in this devastating fire.
