Lafayette, IN (January 20, 2026) – A deadly multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a passenger early Saturday morning, January 17, along Indiana State Road 25 on the Hoosier Heartland Corridor in Tippecanoe County.
The collision occurred around 5:16 a.m. near County Road 700 North and involved two passenger vehicles and a semi-tractor trailer. According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, the crash began when a northbound 2016 Ford Focus, driven by 32-year-old Kendy Provins of Indianapolis, lost control on the icy roadway. The car spun out and was struck by a 2011 Hyundai, also traveling north.
Following the initial collision, the Ford was forced off the road. The Hyundai, driven by 44-year-old Manno Laborde of Indianapolis, was then hit from behind by a Volvo semi-tractor trailer, also heading northbound. The force of that second impact sent the Hyundai off the road and caused fatal injuries to a female passenger seated in the back. Her identity has not been released pending family notification.
Laborde and a front-seat passenger in the Hyundai were treated and released from medical care. A female passenger in the Ford Focus was also treated and later released.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, noting that icy road conditions played a role in the crash. Emergency responders worked in frigid early-morning conditions to secure the scene and assist those involved.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the woman who tragically lost her life in this accident. We also wish healing and strength to those injured.
