Lubbock, TX (January 21, 2026) – Emergency crews in Lubbock responded to a serious crash with injuries Tuesday afternoon on South Loop 289 westbound, just east of University Avenue.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:15 p.m., prompting a coordinated response from Engine 8, Engine 10, and Truck 17. According to dispatch communications, responders arrived at the westbound access road near the University Ave exit, between two schools, where they encountered a two-vehicle collision.
One male victim was reportedly found not breathing, prompting immediate life-saving efforts by first responders. Crews provided urgent care at the scene while coordinating with police and medical personnel. Traffic in the area was disrupted during emergency operations, particularly near the Nineteenth St and Memphis Ave area, where the crash impact was most visible.
