Columbus, OH (January 23, 2026) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred on Thursday evening in northeast Columbus, where a person was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene, according to local police.
The incident unfolded around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Morse Rd and Sharon Ave. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Authorities with the Columbus Police Department reported that the driver involved in the collision did not remain at the scene and failed to offer aid to the injured pedestrian. Investigators believe the vehicle may have sustained front-end damage and are currently pursuing leads in an effort to identify and locate both the driver and the vehicle involved.
The area was closed off temporarily as officers documented the scene and spoke with witnesses. No identifying details about the pedestrian have been released as officials work to notify next of kin.
