South Los Angeles, CA (January 25, 2026) – A deadly crash involving a pedestrian shut down express lanes along northbound I-110 at the I-105 West connector on Saturday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol confirmed the fatal incident occurred at approximately 12:39 p.m. near the South LA interchange.
Emergency responders, including Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and Metro units, arrived on scene following multiple reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. The victim was reportedly struck by a silver Hyundai SUV while attempting to cross the freeway lanes. Witnesses stated the pedestrian was lying unresponsive in the fast-track lanes of the northbound 110, and CHP dispatchers quickly upgraded the call to a fatality response.

Additional emergency units coordinated lane closures, secured the area, and called for the coroner’s office, which arrived just after 2:00 p.m.
Authorities initiated a full investigation and issued a SigAlert for the northbound express lanes. The SigAlert remained active for several hours as CHP conducted a fatal traffic investigation and coordinated vehicle removal.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
