Colchester, VT (January 25, 2026) – A tragic crash involving multiple vehicles claimed the lives of two people and left three others injured on Friday evening at the intersection of Roosevelt Hwy (US Routes 2/7) and Coon Hill Rd in Colchester.
Colchester police received multiple 911 calls around 6:09 p.m. reporting a serious collision involving three vehicles. When officers and emergency personnel arrived, they discovered several individuals trapped inside the wreckage. Firefighters worked urgently to extricate the occupants from the vehicles.
All five individuals involved in the crash were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment. Authorities later confirmed that two of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The remaining three were still undergoing evaluation as of Friday night, with no additional details on their conditions released at this time.
The crash forced the closure of Roosevelt Hwy for several hours. The exact cause of the collision has not yet been determined. A reconstruction team from Vermont State Police is working alongside Colchester Police to investigate the deadly incident.
