Lansing, MI (January 26, 2026) – Emergency crews responded to a chaotic scene on Sunday morning after multiple vehicles were involved in a pile-up and slide-offs on Interstate 496 near Martin Luther King Blvd in Lansing.
The incident occurred around 11:50 a.m. on January 25, affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-496. Dispatch audio indicated that at least two vehicles, including a black Dodge Hornet, were involved in collisions caused by hazardous road conditions. Additional vehicles reportedly lost control and slid off the roadway in both directions.
First responders arrived quickly and began assessing the scene. While injuries were reported, confirmation on the number and severity of those hurt has not yet been made public. Medics were on-site to evaluate the involved individuals and provide treatment as needed.
Traffic in the area was significantly disrupted as emergency units worked to assist motorists and remove damaged vehicles. Drivers were urged to avoid the area due to slick conditions and ongoing cleanup efforts.
