Cleveland, OH (January 26, 2026) – Two police officers and a bus passenger were injured Monday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision near the Detroit-Superior Bridge involving a Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) bus and a Cleveland police cruiser.
The accident took place around 1:15 p.m. on January 26. According to the Cleveland Division of Police, the officers were responding to a call with emergency lights and sirens activated, traveling northbound on W 25th St. As they entered the intersection at Detroit Ave, their cruiser collided with an eastbound GCRTA bus.
Emergency medical services, GCRTA Transit Police, and additional Cleveland officers responded to the scene. The two officers sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. A passenger aboard the RTA bus also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The bus driver was unharmed, officials confirmed.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for a time as crews worked to assist the injured and clear the intersection. Investigators are reviewing the incident to determine contributing factors.
