Staten Island, NY (January 28, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday evening in the Richmond section of Staten Island left one person injured and caused significant traffic disruption along Richmond Road, according to officials from the FDNY.
The collision occurred around 6:10 p.m. on January 27 near the intersection of Richmond Rd and Kensico St. The wreck involved at least two vehicles, a Mercedes SUV and a Jeep, both of which sustained heavy damage in the crash. Debris from the vehicles was scattered across the roadway and onto the nearby sidewalk, which was partially covered in slush at the time.
One individual was transported by FDNY/EMS to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. While the full extent of their injuries was not disclosed, a man at the scene, believed to be one of the drivers, informed a responding NYPD officer that he had suffered a broken hand.
Following the crash, Richmond Rd was shut down from Kensico St to Spruce St as emergency crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles and investigate the incident. The cause of the collision is still under review, and no additional details have been released.
