Sylmar, CA (January 28, 2026) – A collision involving multiple vehicles occurred Tuesday night on the southbound I-5 at the transition from eastbound SR-118, resulting in injuries and significant delays for drivers navigating the interchange.
The crash was first reported around 9:47 p.m. and involved a white sedan, a gray pickup truck, and at least one additional vehicle. The impact left one vehicle with major damage and blocked the #1 lane of the southbound I-5. Emergency responders, including personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department and California Highway Patrol, were dispatched to the scene.
At least one person sustained injuries requiring medical assistance. Paramedics evaluated victims on-site and provided aid, though the full extent of injuries has not yet been released. One party was later picked up off-site to assist with towing arrangements after a vehicle was removed from the scene.
Tow trucks were called in to recover the heavily damaged vehicles, and traffic was temporarily disrupted as responders cleared the roadway. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, with early indications pointing to multiple vehicles colliding along the connector ramp.
