West Sacramento, CA (January 28, 2026) – A 31-year-old Sacramento woman lost her life Sunday afternoon in a tragic crash on West Capitol Avenue, where police say alcohol and speed were likely contributing factors.
The collision occurred around 1:40 p.m. near the Enterprise Blvd exit, according to the West Sacramento Police Department. Investigators say a 28-year-old man from West Sacramento was driving in the area when he collided with the woman’s vehicle under circumstances that are still under investigation.
The woman, who was just days away from celebrating her 32nd birthday, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead after the crash. The male driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. After receiving treatment, he was released and subsequently arrested.
Authorities have confirmed that the man is now facing charges of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. He was booked into Yolo County Jail as the investigation into the crash continues.
Traffic in the area was temporarily impacted as police worked to secure the scene and begin a thorough collision investigation. No additional suspect information has been released at this time.
