Monroe, WA (January 28, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle accident shut down both directions of US Highway 2 in Monroe on Tuesday morning, leaving four individuals injured and prompting an extensive emergency response.
The crash occurred near the intersection of US 2 and 179th Ave SE, where several vehicles were involved in a collision during the morning commute. Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue crews arrived at the scene and provided Basic Life Support (BLS) treatment to four patients. All individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but medical personnel remained on-site to monitor their conditions closely.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Monroe Police Department announced that both US 2 and 179th Ave SE had been closed to traffic in both directions. The closure caused significant delays throughout the area as first responders worked to assist the injured, investigate the scene, and clear the roadway.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash, and details regarding the total number of vehicles involved remain limited. Investigators are currently reviewing the circumstances that led to the collision.
