Jefferson Co, MO (January 30, 2026) – Two women were transported to the hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision on Thursday evening at the intersection of westbound MO-Z and I-55, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 5:10 p.m. when a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, traveling westbound, reportedly failed to yield to a steady red signal. The vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2011 Kia Sorento that was in the process of making a left turn. The front-left of the Equinox struck the front of the Sorento, resulting in total damage to both vehicles.
Emergency medical personnel with the Joachim Plattin Ambulance District responded to the scene and transported the 75-year-old female driver of the Equinox and her 76-year-old passenger, both of whom sustained injuries, to Mercy Hospital South. The driver of the Sorento, a 34-year-old woman from Pevely, was not reported to be injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Pippins Towing due to the extent of the damage. The incident was investigated by Trooper A. C. Moran of Troop C, with assistance from Msgt. Z. C. Kral.
