How Red-Light Motorcycle Crashes Occur at Urban Intersections
Intersections such as 83rd Ave and Camelback Rd can be especially dangerous when traffic signals are ignored. When one vehicle enters against a red light, cross traffic may have little time to react, increasing the chance of a side-impact collision.
Motorcycles are particularly vulnerable in these situations. Without the structural protection of a passenger vehicle, riders often face a higher risk of serious injury when struck from the side.
Early morning hours can also present added risks. Lower traffic volumes sometimes lead to higher travel speeds, and visibility may be reduced. Signal compliance and awareness of cross traffic remain key factors in reducing intersection crashes involving motorcycles and passenger vehicles.
