Why Head-on Crashes Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of roadway accidents. These collisions often involve vehicles moving in opposite directions, which increases the impact force and the risk of injury.
One common cause is a vehicle crossing the center line, whether due to distraction, fatigue, or loss of control. Even a brief lapse in attention can lead to a vehicle entering the wrong lane. When this happens, other drivers may have little time or space to react.
Seat belt use can reduce the severity of injuries by helping keep occupants secure. Maintaining lane position and staying alert are key steps that help reduce the risk of this type of crash, especially on highways with opposing traffic.
