What Risks Are Associated With High-Speed Police Pursuits?
Police pursuits can involve rapid lane changes and high speeds, increasing the chance of serious crashes. When a suspect vehicle enters a busy highway, other drivers may have little warning.
Heavy traffic and limited reaction time can lead to multi-vehicle collisions. Even vehicles not directly involved in the pursuit may be affected.
Highway crashes at elevated speeds often result in severe damage. Concrete barriers, merging traffic, and sudden stops can all contribute to the seriousness of a collision during a pursuit.
