Morrill Township, MN (March 18, 2026) – A 61-year-old woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of 93rd Street and 355th Avenue, about eight miles east of Buckman. The incident occurred around 1:03 p.m.

According to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Michelle King-Talbert of Pierz was traveling east on 93rd Street when her vehicle left the roadway. Slippery, icy conditions caused her car to go into a ditch on the north side of the road. King-Talbert was taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital by Mayo Clinic ambulance. Her condition has not been released.

Emergency responders at the scene included the Pierz Fire Department, MLMB First Response Team, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.

Authorities continue to review the circumstances of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the woman as she receives medical care.

How Ice Roads Contribute to Single-Vehicle Crashes

Slippery or icy roads increase the risk of vehicles losing traction and sliding off the roadway. Even at low speeds, vehicles can enter ditches or collide with roadside objects when drivers cannot maintain control.

Drivers may have limited time to react when traction is lost, making it harder to steer or brake safely. Weather conditions, road maintenance, and tire quality all affect how vehicles respond on icy surfaces.

Emergency responders are often dispatched quickly to assess injuries and secure the scene. Prompt medical attention and proper road treatment help reduce the risk of serious harm in these types of crashes.
