How Head-on Collisions Involving Large Trucks Can Occur
Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of roadway incidents, especially when one of the vehicles is a large truck. These collisions often happen when a driver crosses the center line into opposing traffic, sometimes due to fatigue, distraction, or medical issues.
Large trucks take longer to slow or stop, making it difficult to avoid sudden hazards. When a smaller vehicle enters their path, the impact can be severe due to the difference in size and weight.
Road design, lighting, and lane visibility can also affect the occurrence of these crashes. Even in low-traffic conditions, a single moment of loss of control can lead to a serious outcome.
