What Makes Intersection Crashes More Likely to Cause Vehicle Rollovers?
Intersections such as Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Walnut Street can increase risk due to crossing traffic and turning movements. In Waterloo, responders often focus on managing traffic while assisting those involved.
Vehicle rollovers can happen when a collision forces a car or sport utility vehicle to shift suddenly or tip over. Larger vehicles like SUVs have a higher center of gravity, which can make them more prone to overturning during strong impacts.
Speed, angle of impact, and vehicle design all influence whether a rollover occurs. Even at moderate speeds, certain crash conditions can cause a vehicle to flip, especially when struck from the side.
