Tooele County, UT (April 23, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving several semitrucks shut down eastbound Interstate 80 early on Thursday morning, April 23, near mile marker 81 in Tooele County.
The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. near Grantsville. Emergency units responded after reports that a semitruck struck a barrier and rolled into the eastbound lanes, causing traffic to slow and eventually stop.
As traffic backed up, another semitruck failed to slow down and collided with a triple trailer, triggering a chain reaction involving at least five commercial vehicles. Debris was scattered across the roadway, and some cargo, including spray paint cans, burst during the crash.
No hazardous materials were reported to have leaked. All eastbound lanes were closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
