How Parking Lot Crashes Involve Pedestrians
Parking lots can be high-risk areas for pedestrian crashes due to low speeds, frequent stops and turns, and limited visibility. Drivers often focus on finding parking spaces, which can reduce attention to people walking nearby.
Inexperienced drivers may have more difficulty controlling acceleration and braking, especially in crowded areas. Sudden acceleration can lead to unintended collisions.
Pedestrians, including those with strollers, may be harder to see between parked vehicles. Careful driving and reduced speed can help lower the risk of these types of incidents.
