Why Motorcycle Crashes on High-Speed Roads Often Turn Fatal
Motorcycle crashes on highways, such as US routes, often result in severe outcomes due to the limited protection available to riders. Even when helmets are worn, the impact force in a collision with a larger vehicle can be significant.
High-speed roads also reduce reaction time for both motorcyclists and drivers of larger vehicles. Sudden lane changes, turning movements, or visibility issues can increase the risk of collisions.
In fatal crashes, investigators typically examine speed, roadway conditions, and vehicle positioning to determine how the incident occurred. Traffic diversions are often used to protect emergency responders and allow for a full scene investigation.
