Security-Widefield, CO (April 26, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized after a car crashed into a church late Saturday night in the Security-Widefield area south of Colorado Springs.
The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. along Main Street near Norman Drive. According to reports, a Subaru WRX was heading south when the driver failed to complete a right turn and went off the roadway. After hitting the building, the car fell back to the ground near the structure. Emergency units responded to the scene and found two occupants inside the vehicle.
The driver, an 18-year-old man from Colorado Springs, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. A 14-year-old passenger also from Colorado Springs was hospitalized with serious injuries. Their current conditions have not been updated.

How Vehicles Can Leave the Roadway and Cause Structural Impacts
When a vehicle leaves the roadway, it can quickly encounter hazards such as curbs, rocks, or uneven ground. These obstacles can change the vehicle’s direction or even launch it into the air, especially at higher speeds. Once airborne, a car can travel farther than expected before landing, sometimes striking buildings or other structures.
Sharp turns also increase the risk of losing control, particularly if the driver misjudges speed or road conditions. At night, reduced visibility can make it harder to react in time. Vehicles that hit fixed objects often experience severe damage, which can lead to serious injuries for those inside.
Understanding how these crashes occur highlights the risks associated with speed, road design, and driver response in sudden situations.
