Why Loss of Control Crashes Can Lead to Ejection and Severe Injury
Single-vehicle crashes involving loss of control are especially dangerous due to the sudden and unpredictable forces involved. When a vehicle strikes a barrier or leaves the roadway, occupants may experience rapid directional changes that increase the risk of serious injury.
Ejection from a vehicle is one of the most severe outcomes in traffic collisions and is often associated with a lack of seat belt use or improper restraint. Even when passengers survive the initial impact, injuries from being thrown from the vehicle can be life-threatening.
Roadway features such as tunnels, curves, and elevated highways can further complicate driving conditions, making it essential for drivers and passengers to remain properly restrained at all times.
