What Happens When a Vehicle Becomes Trapped After a Crash?
When someone is trapped inside a vehicle after a crash, rescue teams use specialized tools to safely remove them. This process, often called extrication, may involve cutting parts of the car to reach the person without causing further harm.
The time it takes can vary depending on the damage and position of the vehicle. Weather conditions, traffic flow, and access to the crash site can also affect how quickly help arrives and how smoothly the process goes.
In some cases, air medical transport is requested to move patients quickly to a hospital. However, weather conditions like low visibility or strong winds can prevent helicopters from flying, which may delay advanced medical care. Ground crews then continue treatment and transport as needed.
