Why Dump Truck and SUV Collisions Can Be So Devastating
Collisions between large commercial trucks and passenger SUVs often result in serious outcomes due to differences in size, weight, and impact force. Dump trucks carry significant mass, which can increase the severity of damage during a collision, especially at intersections.
Intersections along rural highways like Illinois Route 130 can also present risks when vehicles enter or cross traffic without clear visibility or sufficient time to react. These conditions may contribute to angle or side-impact crashes.
Investigators typically examine vehicle positioning, roadway markings, and timing of entry into the intersection to determine how the crash occurred and whether any contributing factors were involved.
