Airway Heights, WA (August 8, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Thursday night on Highway 2 near the Spokane Tribe Casino, just west of Airway Heights. The fatal collision occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m., prompting a full closure of the eastbound lanes near Fairview Heights Rd, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
WSP officials confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not been released, but investigators remained on-site for several hours to reconstruct the crash and gather evidence.
All eastbound lanes of SR-2 were shut down in the area east of Fairview Heights Rd. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes while cleanup and investigation were underway.
