Allegheny County, PA (January 16, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident was reported Wednesday evening on South Braddock Avenue near the Applebee’s at Edgewood Towne Centre in Pittsburgh, prompting an emergency response due to concerns of entrapment.
Initial reports around 4:50 p.m. indicated that a passerby called in the crash, describing a vehicle with occupants still inside and unclear conditions. Fire companies including Station 137, 122, and 278 were dispatched to the scene, with rescue units arriving moments later. The incident was originally believed to be a single-vehicle crash with possible entrapment.
Upon arrival, responders confirmed it involved two vehicles, with one of the vehicles having reportedly struck a structure or parked vehicle near the restaurant entrance. EMS crews on-site evaluated one individual who sustained injuries, though that person ultimately refused transport to a hospital.
Traffic along South Braddock Avenue was temporarily disrupted while emergency crews assessed the scene and ensured safety. The surrounding area, home to shopping centers and restaurants, was heavily traveled at the time of the crash, adding to initial concerns.
Command later advised that EMS services could be canceled once the injured party declined treatment, and the scene was placed under control shortly thereafter. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
We extend our well wishes to the person involved and hope for their continued well-being.
