Ames, IA (January 16, 2026) – A 47-year-old man was hospitalized after being struck by an SUV early in the morning on January 15 near the 400 block of Duff Avenue in Ames. The incident occurred shortly before 4:15 a.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash report states that a 2020 Buick Enclave was traveling northbound on Duff Avenue when a pedestrian entered the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk and was hit by the vehicle. The pedestrian, identified as Joshua Benjamin Kutcher of Ames, sustained injuries and was transported to MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines for further treatment.

As of this writing, Kutcher’s condition has not been publicly released. Authorities confirmed that the Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
