Amherst, NY (January 16, 2026) – A two-car accident in Amherst on Friday led to at least one person sustaining a head injury, prompting a response from emergency crews with the Main Transit Fire Department.
The crash took place at the intersection of Sheridan Dr and Brompton Rd, where first responders arrived to find both vehicles with visible damage and one individual suffering from a head injury. Medics provided immediate care at the scene before transporting the injured person to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.
The intersection remained partially blocked for a period of time as emergency crews worked to assist the victim and clear the roadway. Authorities worked to direct traffic safely around the scene, warning drivers in the area to exercise caution due to congestion and emergency activity.
An investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway. Officials have not yet confirmed what factors contributed to the crash, but both vehicles have since been removed, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
