Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes in South Carolina
Hit-and-run accidents are among the most devastating traffic incidents, particularly when they involve pedestrians. Crashes like the one on Michelin Blvd leave families grieving while investigators search for those responsible. These events highlight the critical need for driver accountability and public cooperation in identifying fleeing vehicles.
In South Carolina, pedestrian fatalities have continued to rise, particularly in early morning hours when visibility is low and traffic enforcement is limited. Pedestrians walking along or across poorly lit roads are at especially high risk when drivers fail to remain at the scene after a collision.
For the families of victims, the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. Funeral expenses, unanswered questions, and the long wait for justice all add to the burden. In these cases, community assistance can play a vital role in helping authorities identify and locate those responsible.
Victims’ families may also have legal avenues to pursue civil claims for wrongful death, especially if the responsible party is located. Legal professionals can offer guidance through the investigative and claims process.
