Antioch, CA (January 5, 2025) – A significant traffic collision with injuries occurred at the State Route 4 Eastbound offramp near Railroad Ave in Antioch. The incident, reported around 3:30 AM, involved multiple vehicles, one of which caught fire following the crash.
Emergency responders, including Contra Costa Fire and Rescue and AMR paramedics, quickly arrived at the scene. A Good Samaritan reportedly assisted in pulling an occupant from one of the vehicles before it became engulfed in flames. The individual was transported to Kaiser Antioch for precautionary treatment, including for potential smoke inhalation. The extent of injuries for others involved remains unclear at this time.
The collision resulted in significant debris and lane blockages, requiring the temporary closure of multiple eastbound lanes on SR4 as authorities worked to clear the scene. Two vehicles were reportedly fully engulfed in flames before being extinguished by firefighters. Tow services were called to remove the damaged vehicles, and the roadway was reopened after several hours of cleanup.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Early indications suggest that one of the vehicles involved struck another that was previously stalled on the roadway.
