Arden Hills, MN (August 14, 2025) – A deadly rollover collision on westbound Interstate 694 at Highway 10 in Arden Hills claimed the life of one person and left two others injured Tuesday evening. The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) reported that the crash occurred around 6:26 p.m.
Emergency responders from St. Paul Fire, Allina EMS, and Ramsey County rushed to the scene following reports of a serious rollover accident involving two vehicles. First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated multiple victims at the scene before transporting the injured to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).
According to investigators, a white 2011 Subaru Legacy was traveling westbound when it veered from the right lane into the left shoulder, striking a guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and collide with a 2021 Honda CR-V before coming to rest on its side.
The driver of the Subaru, 21-year-old Fatuma Yussuf Sharif-Isaack of Brooklyn Park, tragically died from her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Two passengers in the Subaru, 20-year-old Ayan Ali Hassan of Fridley and 21-year-old Fatima Mursal Jaamac of Brooklyn Park, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to HCMC.
The driver of the Honda CR-V, 41-year-old Lynie Rose Lee of Maplewood, was unharmed. Authorities confirmed that airbags did not deploy in the CR-V, but the driver had been wearing a seatbelt.
The road was dry at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to have played a role. The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Fatuma Sharif-Isaack. Our thoughts are also with the passengers and all those affected by this tragic incident.
Fatal Rollover Accidents in Minnesota
This devastating crash in Arden Hills highlights the deadly consequences that can result from a single moment of loss of control on a high-speed interstate. Rollover accidents—especially those involving guardrail impacts—often produce violent outcomes, particularly when seatbelts are not worn. In this case, the Subaru Legacy’s rollover resulted in a fatality and injuries despite the absence of alcohol or poor road conditions.
Minnesota traffic safety officials consistently stress the importance of seatbelt usage. According to the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, nearly 30% of traffic fatalities in the state involve unbelted occupants, despite overall high compliance rates. The use of a seatbelt often marks the difference between life and death in a serious crash—especially in rollovers, which can violently eject or toss occupants within the vehicle.
The stretch of I-694 near Hwy 10 is a busy interchange zone with multiple merging lanes and high-speed traffic. While it’s not considered a particularly hazardous section, even routine conditions can become deadly with a sudden loss of control. This crash serves as a somber reminder of the risks all drivers face on interstates, and the critical need to remain restrained at all times.
Beyond the heartbreaking loss of life, the surviving victims in this crash may now face extended recovery periods and emotional trauma. Medical costs, mental health impacts, and the challenges of moving forward after such a traumatic event can be overwhelming.
