Atlanta, GA (September 4, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Childress Dr SW and Campbellton Rd SW resulted in multiple injuries late Wednesday evening. Emergency crews from Atlanta Fire Rescue responded to the scene just before 6:00 PM on September 3, following reports of a severe crash with possible entrapment.
Upon arrival, responders found three individuals involved in the crash, including one adult male who sustained severe injuries and required advanced life support (ALS) medical intervention. Initial concerns regarding possible entrapment were ultimately ruled out after a full assessment at the scene.
Rescue crews worked quickly to stabilize the severely injured individual while also assisting the remaining patients. One elderly man at the scene also reported breathing difficulties and was evaluated by medical personnel. Emergency units remained on site for an extended period to manage the response, clear the wreckage, and investigate the cause of the collision.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the factors that led to the crash. The intersection remained partially closed while crews operated in the area. Our thoughts are with all those impacted, and we wish a full recovery to the injured parties.
Intersection Collisions in Georgia
Serious accidents at busy intersections like Childress Dr and Campbellton Rd underscore the elevated risks drivers face in high-traffic areas across Atlanta. These types of crashes often involve complex conditions—turning vehicles, poor visibility, and fast-changing traffic lights—that create dangerous scenarios with little margin for error.
In this case, the presence of severe injuries and the activation of ALS units point to a high-impact collision with major consequences for at least one of the victims. Intersections like this in southwest Atlanta often serve as key traffic arteries, increasing the likelihood of multi-vehicle accidents during peak hours.
Recovery from such incidents can be a lengthy and costly process. In addition to medical treatment, injured individuals may face lost income, rehabilitation challenges, and the burden of navigating insurance claims. When severe injuries occur—as they did here—early access to experienced support systems becomes even more critical.
To reduce the frequency of these crashes, Georgia continues to push for improved traffic enforcement, intersection redesigns, and public education efforts. However, it remains essential that all drivers exercise heightened caution and patience when traveling through busy intersections—particularly during high-volume hours in densely populated areas like Atlanta.
