Vehicle Collisions in Austin’s Suburban Areas
FM 812 Rd runs through southern Austin and is a busy connector route for neighborhoods such as Thoroughbred Estates. The mix of residential driveways, through traffic, and occasional high speeds makes this roadway prone to collisions. Intersections and driveways along FM roads can be particularly dangerous due to limited visibility and sudden turning movements.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, Travis County reported over 14,000 crashes involving injuries in 2024, a significant number of which occurred on suburban and rural roads just outside Austin’s core. Drivers in these areas often encounter unique risks such as two-lane highways with higher speeds, reduced lighting, and more limited enforcement presence compared to downtown corridors.
For those injured in crashes, prompt medical care is essential, even if symptoms seem minor at first. Documenting the accident scene, obtaining the official crash report, and consulting with professionals about insurance and recovery options can also play an important role in the aftermath of a collision.
