Bakersfield, CA (September 17, 2025) – A deadly pedestrian crash occurred late Monday night in Bakersfield, leaving one man dead after he was struck by two separate vehicles on Union Ave, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The fatal collision happened at approximately 10:20 p.m. on September 15 in the 3300 block of Union Ave. Emergency responders from Bakersfield Fire and local EMS were dispatched to the scene, where they found the man lying in the roadway. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigators say the man was walking eastbound across Union Ave outside of a designated crosswalk when he was initially struck by a vehicle. Moments later, a second vehicle struck the victim again and continued driving, fleeing the scene before law enforcement could arrive. The first driver remained on site and cooperated fully with the investigation.
At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been released pending family notification. The search is ongoing for the driver of the second vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. Officers closed the roadway for several hours overnight while collecting evidence and reconstructing the events.
