Bartow County, GA (September 2, 2025) – A Labor Day crash involving four vehicles left four people injured, including a child who was ejected from a vehicle and flown to the hospital. The collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday at mile marker 281 on I-75, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
Officials said the crash began when a white Toyota Camry traveling in the middle lane northbound was struck by another car. The impact sent the Camry into a Chevrolet Suburban in the left lane. Both vehicles broke through the cable barrier before the Suburban overturned into the southbound lanes, colliding with a black Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado also overturned.
During the violent crash sequence, a 7-year-old child was ejected from the Silverado, GSP confirmed. The child was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital. Three other individuals injured in the crash were transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital.
The vehicle that initially struck the Camry did not remain at the scene and continued northbound on I-75. Troopers are actively investigating and seeking information about that driver.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families, and we hope for the child’s full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions on Georgia Interstates
Holiday weekends like Labor Day often bring heavier traffic volumes, increasing the risk of multi-vehicle crashes such as the one reported in Bartow County. High-speed travel combined with congestion can lead to chain-reaction collisions that quickly escalate in severity. In this case, the crash not only caused two vehicles to overturn but also crossed lanes into opposing traffic, dramatically increasing the danger.
Child ejections are particularly devastating and highlight the importance of seat belt use and proper child restraint systems. Even when restraints are used, the violent forces involved in multi-vehicle rollovers can result in life-threatening outcomes. The airlifting of the 7-year-old victim underscores the seriousness of this incident and the urgent need for trauma care in such cases.
For victims and families, crashes of this magnitude often mean long-term recovery, both physical and emotional, along with financial burdens tied to hospital care, rehabilitation, and vehicle losses. Georgia law allows injured individuals and their families to pursue compensation when another driver’s actions contributed to a crash. With a hit-and-run factor in this incident, investigators will be focused on identifying the driver who struck the Camry and fled the scene.
Interstate 75 remains one of Georgia’s busiest and most heavily patrolled corridors, and safety campaigns continue to emphasize defensive driving, vigilance, and restraint use as critical measures to reduce severe injuries and fatalities.
