Winning Trials since 1979

Bellevue Twp, MN (August 14, 2025) – A crash between a passenger vehicle and a farming tractor left one man injured early Wednesday morning in Morrison County. The incident occurred at approximately 4:49 a.m. on Highway 10 just past 93rd St in Bellevue Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Medics from Mayo Ambulance and fire crews from Royalton responded quickly to the scene, where 25-year-old Isaiah Scott Tilden of Le Sueur was found injured following a rear-end crash involving his 2009 Chevy Impala and a 2025 John Deere tractor. The vehicles were both traveling eastbound when the Impala struck the back of the slower-moving tractor.

Emergency medical services treated Tilden at the scene before transporting him to St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls with non-life-threatening injuries. The airbags in his vehicle deployed, and he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the tractor, 20-year-old Owen Lowell Buehler of Battle Lake, was uninjured and did not require hospitalization.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the collision, and no contributing alcohol factors were reported. The crash caused temporary disruption to eastbound travel on Highway 10 as responders worked to manage the scene and remove the involved vehicles.

Officials with the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest visibility or reaction time may have played a role in the collision, particularly given the early morning timing and the contrast between vehicle speeds.

We extend our well wishes to Isaiah Tilden and hope for his full and swift recovery.

Rural Roadway Crashes in Minnesota

The crash that occurred on Highway 10 in Bellevue Township highlights a unique challenge found on Minnesota’s rural roads—interactions between standard vehicles and agricultural equipment. Early morning collisions involving tractors are not uncommon in farming regions, especially during seasonal operations when slow-moving equipment shares the roadway with regular traffic.

In this case, a Chevy Impala collided with the back of a John Deere tractor while both vehicles were headed eastbound. While the driver of the tractor was unharmed, the driver of the car sustained injuries and required hospital care. Fortunately, he was properly restrained, and his vehicle’s airbags deployed, likely reducing the severity of his injuries.

Crashes like this emphasize the importance of maintaining awareness and cautious following distances—particularly when driving through areas where tractors or other slow-moving machinery may be present. Because tractors lack many of the visible safety features found on passenger vehicles, they can be harder to detect in dim lighting or from a distance.

Victims of such accidents may face unexpected medical bills, vehicle repairs, and legal questions about fault and compensation. Minnesota law provides protections and rights for injury victims, but acting promptly to document the scene and understand legal remedies is crucial.

Public education campaigns often focus on rural driving safety, but there remains a strong need for awareness about how to safely navigate around farm equipment—especially at night or in early morning hours when visibility is reduced. Reflective gear, flashing lights, and slower speeds help, but drivers must remain vigilant and patient.
