Benton, MO (August 10, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred early on Friday morning on US-65 southbound, just north of Yoder Ave in Benton County. The incident, which took place at 6:56 a.m., involved two vehicles and led to the death of an 80-year-old man from Warsaw, MO.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 1997 Ford F-150, driven by an 80-year-old male, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2013 Kenworth truck-tractor. The impact caused the Ford F-150 to slow down and eventually come to a stop on the shoulder of the southbound lanes. Meanwhile, the Kenworth truck-tractor skidded across the northbound lanes before overturning into a ditch.
The driver of the truck-tractor, a 22-year-old male from Fortuna, MO, was wearing a safety device and sustained minor injuries. He was treated and released at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 was not wearing a safety device and suffered fatal injuries. He was transported from the scene by the Benton County Coroner’s Office.
The crash resulted in a total loss of both vehicles, which were towed from the scene by Don’s Towing. The incident led to significant disruption on US-65, and authorities worked for hours to clear the area and investigate the cause of the crash.
Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Benton County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the scene. This crash marks Fatality #48 for 2025 in Troop A and is being treated as a fatal crash under investigation.
