Billings, MT (September 19, 2025) – First responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot near Central Ave and 24th St W in Billings on Monday afternoon. The crash was reported around 2:49 p.m., just outside a local Taco Bell.
According to Yellowstone County emergency communications, both vehicles sustained only minor damage, and everyone involved was able to exit their vehicles under their own power. While initial reports indicated injuries, those on scene were evaluated and found to be walking and alert, with no serious trauma reported.
Fire crews from Engine 5 and Engine 3, along with American Medical Response (AMR), responded quickly and provided precautionary assessments. All parties declined transport, and no extrication was required. Police remained at the location to assist with the exchange of information and ensure the parking lot was cleared safely.
No citations have been reported at this time, and the incident appears to have been a low-speed collision typical of crowded commercial parking areas.
We’re thankful that everyone involved was able to walk away and wish them continued well-being as they move forward.
Parking Lot Accidents in Montana
While often overlooked, crashes that occur in parking lots—like the one near Central Ave and 24th St W—account for a significant number of minor injury incidents in urban areas. These environments are full of stop-and-go traffic, limited visibility, and unpredictable pedestrian movement, which can all contribute to fender benders and minor collisions.
In Montana cities such as Billings, shopping centers and fast-food locations see heavy traffic throughout the day, increasing the likelihood of low-speed accidents. Though the damage is often minimal, injuries can still result—especially soft tissue injuries like whiplash, back strains, or bruises that may worsen after the initial impact.
Even in cases where occupants feel fine immediately after a crash, it’s wise to seek a medical evaluation, particularly if symptoms develop later. Documenting injuries early on also ensures accurate reporting for insurance or potential legal claims.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down in parking areas, check blind spots carefully, and avoid distractions like phones or in-vehicle navigation while maneuvering through tight spaces. Most importantly, being patient with other drivers and yielding the right of way when unsure can go a long way in preventing unnecessary incidents.
