Black Hawk Co, IA (January 7, 2026) – A driver was killed in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger car Tuesday morning at the intersection of Canfield Rd and Independence Ave, according to local authorities.
The fatal crash occurred on January 6 around 7:43 a.m. Investigators say the driver of a car traveling eastbound on Independence Ave pulled into the path of a southbound semi-truck on Canfield Rd. The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway, where they came to rest in the southeast ditch of the intersection.
Emergency responders arrived to find the car’s driver deceased at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released pending family notification. The semi driver was not injured in the crash.
The area remained closed for a period as law enforcement conducted scene documentation and cleared the roadway. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
