Bluffton Twp, MN – Car Accident at Hwy 10 & CR 75 Results in Injuries

June 2, 2025

Bluffton Twp, MN (June 2, 2025) – A collision at the intersection of Hwy 10 and County Rd 75 in Bluffton Township, Otter Tail County, left three individuals injured. The crash occurred around 4:49 p.m. and involved a 2015 Subaru Forester and a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban.

Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims. Authorities reported that the Subaru was traveling southbound on CR 75 while the Suburban was moving eastbound on Hwy 10 when they collided. Both vehicles sustained damage, and assistance was provided by Bluffton Fire, Astera Ambulance, and law enforcement agencies from Wadena and Otter Tail counties, along with the New York Mills Police Department.

The driver of the Subaru, 73-year-old Tonnette Rae Haynes of Glenwood, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Astera Hospital. Also injured were the driver of the Suburban, 67-year-old Daniel Robert Neumeister, and his 64-year-old passenger, Kyle Marie Neumeister, both of Detroit Lake. All three were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time, and no alcohol involvement was indicated.

The Suburban’s airbags deployed, while those in the Forester did not. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

Right-of-Way Collisions at Minnesota Intersections

Collisions like the one at Hwy 10 and CR 75 often occur when drivers misjudge right-of-way rules or fail to yield in time at busy junctions. In Minnesota, rural intersections are a common setting for such accidents, particularly where highways intersect with local roads without traffic signals.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety notes that intersection crashes account for over one-quarter of all vehicle incidents statewide, a figure that emphasizes how critical it is for drivers to remain alert and cautious when entering or crossing major roads. Aging drivers may face added challenges with visibility and reaction times, further raising the risks in complex traffic environments.

In situations like this, determining fault can become complicated. It’s essential for those injured to keep detailed records, including medical evaluations and any available witness reports. These materials can become important if pursuing a claim for damages or insurance benefits. Consulting a legal professional may also be a prudent step to ensure that one’s rights are protected and that any offered settlements are fair.
