Boise County, ID (August 6, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a motorcyclist Sunday afternoon, August 3, on State Highway 55 just south of Horseshoe Bend. The crash, which occurred at approximately 3:31 p.m., remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
Authorities confirmed that a 23-year-old man from Caldwell was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on SH-55 when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2010 Honda Pilot driven by a 45-year-old man from Idaho City. The impact caused a small brush fire at the crash site, adding further urgency to the emergency response.
Despite the swift arrival of first responders, the rider of the Yamaha was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the Honda, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, sustained injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
The crash prompted the closure of SH-55 for approximately three and a half hours as emergency crews worked to assist the victims, extinguish the fire, and conduct a thorough investigation. Traffic in the area was rerouted during that time.
