Bonita Springs, FL (September 18, 2025) – A deadly collision at the intersection of East Terry Street and Imperial Parkway claimed the life of a 22-year-old Naples man on Wednesday morning. The crash, which occurred just before noon, involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle and brought traffic to a halt in the area as authorities responded.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the young motorcyclist was riding a 2016 Yamaha at a high rate of speed southbound on Imperial Parkway. As he entered the intersection, a 2013 Jeep driven by an 86-year-old man from Fort Myers was attempting to turn left onto westbound East Terry Street from the opposite direction. The motorcycle struck the front right section of the Jeep during the turn, leading to a devastating impact.
The force of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities also confirmed that the motorcycle became engulfed in flames following the collision. The Jeep’s driver and his 74-year-old female passenger, both residents of Fort Myers, were not injured.
All lanes of traffic at the intersection were shut down as Lee County deputies and fire crews worked the scene. Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are continuing to examine evidence and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young man whose life was lost in this heartbreaking incident.
Motorcycle Accidents in Florida
Florida remains one of the states with the highest rates of motorcycle-related fatalities in the country, and tragic crashes like this one in Bonita Springs underscore the inherent dangers riders face on the road. Intersections such as East Terry Street and Imperial Parkway are especially hazardous for motorcyclists due to turning vehicles and limited visibility for drivers.
In this particular incident, a high-speed approach combined with a turning vehicle created a deadly scenario—one that is all too common across Florida roadways. Motorcyclists are more exposed to injury in nearly every type of crash, and collisions with larger vehicles often result in fatal outcomes, even when riders wear protective gear.
Beyond the emotional toll, deadly motorcycle crashes have a deep ripple effect on families and communities. Young victims, like the 22-year-old Naples man in this case, are often just beginning their adult lives when these tragic events occur. It’s a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can change due to one moment in traffic.
For drivers, especially older motorists, it’s critical to double-check for motorcycles before making left turns or lane changes. Many crashes occur simply because motorcycles are harder to see—and misjudging their speed or distance can have fatal consequences. Increased public awareness, defensive driving habits, and continued road safety education are key tools in preventing future tragedies.
