Boone County, MO (January 2, 2025) – A severe multi-vehicle collision occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day on I-70 Eastbound, just east of mile marker 115.8. The crash involved three vehicles and resulted in multiple injuries, including one serious injury.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident was investigated by Trooper S. L. Ponder (713) at approximately 3:25 AM. The collision occurred when a 2013 Nissan Murano, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, collided with an oncoming 2012 Toyota Camry and 2019 Acura RDX. The impact caused the Acura RDX to travel off the right side of the roadway.
Emergency crews, including Boone County Sheriff’s Department and University Ambulance Services, responded to the scene. All three vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the site by Slate Towing.

- Vehicle 1 (2013 Nissan Murano):
- Male driver, 20, from Grandview, MO – Minor injuries; transported to University Hospital via Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
- Male occupant, 25, from Grandview, MO – Serious injuries; transported to University Hospital via University Ambulance.
- Male occupant, 28, unknown residence – Moderate injuries; transported to University Hospital via University Ambulance.
- Vehicle 2 (2012 Toyota Camry):
- Male driver, 27, from San Diego, CA – Minor injuries; transported to University Hospital via University Ambulance.
- Female occupant, 21, from Fort Benning, GA – Minor injuries; transported to University Hospital via University Ambulance.
The male driver of Vehicle 3 (2019 Acura RDX), aged 54 from Columbia, MO, was reportedly uninjured. All involved parties were utilizing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Authorities are investigating the factors contributing to this collision, which initially stemmed from the wrong-way travel of Vehicle 1. Additional updates will be released as information becomes available.
