Brampton Twp, MI (January 30, 2026) – A tragic collision involving a pickup truck and a train at the intersection of M-35 and 26th Ln in Delta County has resulted in one fatality and left another person in critical condition, according to Michigan State Police.
The incident took place on Thursday, when a pickup truck driven by a 76-year-old woman from Gladstone collided with a train under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the rural crossing to assist the victims.
The driver was severely injured and later died from her injuries on January 29 at OSF St. Francis Hospital. Her 82-year-old passenger, also from Gladstone, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted by Guardian Flight to HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI, where she remains under intensive care.
The crossing at M-35 and 26th Ln was temporarily shut down as authorities from the Michigan State Police Eighth District and local responders worked to investigate the scene and manage the aftermath.
