Branson, MO (September 3, 2025) – A collision involving two southbound vehicles on US-160 left one woman with injuries Tuesday morning in Taney County. The crash occurred around 8:13 a.m., approximately eight miles north of Branson.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident began when the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet 2500 pickup attempted to turn into a private driveway. During the maneuver, the vehicle crossed the center line and was struck on the side by a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban traveling in the same direction.
The Suburban, operated by a 32-year-old woman from Highlandville, sustained extensive damage and had to be removed by Finley River Towing. She was reportedly wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. She later sought medical attention at Cox South Hospital via private transportation. The driver of the pickup, a 32-year-old man from Clever, MO, was not reported injured. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Chris’ Towing.
Troop D authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, which disrupted traffic briefly in the area.
We wish the injured woman a full and quick recovery as she receives medical care.
Driveway-Related Crashes in Missouri
Tuesday morning’s crash on US-160 near Branson reveals a common but often overlooked hazard on rural highways: collisions caused by turning maneuvers. In this case, a driver attempting to enter a driveway inadvertently crossed the center line, leading to a side-impact collision that could have resulted in far more serious consequences.
Rural highways like US-160 often lack designated turn lanes, which forces drivers to make decisions quickly—sometimes with limited visibility or without sufficient space to safely complete a turn. When these maneuvers are not executed cautiously or at the right time, the risk of being struck by following or oncoming traffic increases significantly.
Fortunately, the injured driver in this crash was wearing a seatbelt, which likely reduced the severity of her injuries. While her injuries were reported as minor, any collision involving significant vehicle damage and sudden impact can lead to lingering physical and emotional effects. It’s not uncommon for soft tissue injuries or post-crash trauma to manifest hours or days after the incident.
Even in cases where the crash appears straightforward, questions of liability, insurance coverage, and medical costs can create additional stress. That’s why accessing the right support—medical, legal, and logistical—is essential for those involved.
If you’ve been injured in a crash caused by a sudden or improper turn, you may have options for pursuing support and compensation. Knowing your rights can help ease the burden as you recover.
