Brazos County, TX (August 13, 2025) – Three individuals were injured Tuesday afternoon in Brazos County after an SUV collided with a golf cart on Indian Lakes Dr, according to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The crash took place around 3:30 p.m. between Mesa Verde Dr and Arapaho Ridge Cir.

Authorities reported that the golf cart, carrying four individuals, was traveling along the side of the road when it was struck from behind by a 2000 Chevy Tahoe. Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims. Three of the golf cart passengers were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station for treatment.

The identities and exact ages of those involved have not been publicly disclosed, though witnesses indicated that the victims appeared to be young. The circumstances leading to the crash are currently under investigation by DPS.

Our thoughts are with the individuals hurt in this incident, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

Dangers of Golf Cart Collisions in Texas

While golf carts are commonly associated with low-speed recreational use, their presence on public roads introduces unique safety risks. In rural or suburban areas like Brazos County, it is not uncommon for golf carts to be driven near neighborhoods or local roads, sometimes without the protection afforded by standard motor vehicles. When these vehicles are struck by full-sized SUVs, the results can be severe due to the golf cart’s lack of structural safety features.

Texas law allows for limited street usage of golf carts in specific areas, but incidents like this highlight the potential dangers when such vehicles share space with traditional traffic. Rear-end collisions, especially involving large vehicles like a Chevy Tahoe, can result in significant injuries, even at relatively low speeds.

In accidents involving minors or younger individuals, the emotional and legal aftermath can be especially complex. Parents or guardians may need to navigate not only medical decisions but also potential claims for damages, pain and suffering, or long-term rehabilitation. Understanding one’s legal rights in these situations is essential to ensure the proper support is in place.
