Breckenridge, MO (August 7, 2025) – A rollover crash south of Breckenridge left one man injured Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a towed unit on another vehicle along Highway A.
The crash occurred around 12:01 p.m. approximately four miles south of Breckenridge at the intersection of Hwy A and Applewood Dr. A 45-year-old man from Breckenridge was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 southbound when, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, his vehicle veered across the center of the roadway and into the path of a northbound 2024 Ford F250 pulling a towed unit.
The Chrysler struck the towed portion of the Ford, causing the sedan to slide off the east side of the road and overturn. The vehicle came to rest upside down facing east and sustained total damage. Emergency personnel from Caldwell County EMS responded to the crash and transported the driver of the Chrysler to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford F250, a 59-year-old man from Linneus, was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene. The Ford sustained only minor damage, and the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.
We extend our best wishes to the injured driver and are thankful for the swift response by local law enforcement and EMS teams.
Rural Rollover Accidents in Missouri
Rural crashes often carry unique risks that differ from those in more populated areas. Tuesday’s incident south of Breckenridge illustrates the serious outcomes that can result when a vehicle crosses the center line—especially when it involves contact with trailers or towed equipment on undivided two-lane highways like Hwy A.
In this case, the impact between the Chrysler 200 and the towed unit behind the Ford F250 caused the sedan to overturn—a dangerous scenario that commonly leads to traumatic injuries or worse. While the driver was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries, rollover crashes remain one of the most dangerous types of vehicle incidents, particularly in rural Missouri counties where speed, curves, and narrow lanes are common factors.
Crashes that involve a vehicle leaving the roadway and overturning are frequently associated with loss of vehicle control, overcorrection, or unexpected hazards. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a significant percentage of fatal crashes in rural areas involve vehicles crossing the centerline—often due to fatigue, distraction, or medical emergencies.
Rollover accidents can also result in substantial vehicle damage, even at moderate speeds, and often require full towing recovery as seen here. For injured drivers, treatment and recovery can be complicated by delayed response times in more remote areas, highlighting the importance of quick EMS action and nearby trauma care options such as Hedrick Medical Center.
Understanding the dangers of rural road travel and maintaining awareness of surroundings—especially when sharing the road with larger vehicles or trailers—can be essential to avoiding similar crashes.
