Buffalo, NY (January 17, 2026) – A series of collisions on I-90 westbound near Exit 57A (Eden/Angola) on January 15 led to two individuals being hospitalized, according to the New York State Police and the Thruway Authority.
Authorities reported that multiple incidents unfolded just before 4:30 p.m., as winter weather created hazardous conditions across Western New York. Emergency personnel responded to three separate crashes in the area, including a collision involving two tractor-trailers, another involving five passenger vehicles, and a third crash between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car.
Traffic on I-90 west was brought to a standstill, with all lanes temporarily blocked at Exit 57A. Responders diverted vehicles off the Thruway at Exit 57 (Hamburg) while attending to the injured and working to clear the wreckage. Two people were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
The roadway has since reopened, though the extent of vehicle damage and ongoing cleanup operations has not been fully disclosed. Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events that led to the collisions.
Our thoughts are with those injured in the accidents, and we wish them a full and fast recovery.
